This is my album of photos for the "26 Things: Photographic Scavenger Hunt" presented by SH1FT.ORG (www.sh1ft.org/26things/). All photos were taken in and around my home in Adrian MI, and my work at Adrian College.
A picture inside the construction of our new/old student center. They are tearing off the roof (high point at this time.
Taken this July, on my summer vacation. This is part of the ruins near the Quincy Mine, in Hancock, MI. I love the old stonework.
I love the early mornings when I am the only person on the floor in my building. This image is from the two parallel light sources inside my outer office projecting through the outer door.
I've kept this box around for over a year. I teach chemistry and often order supplies that have a hazardous nature, but only once have I ever found this warning label attached to the outside of a box.
It wasn't very hard to decide what to shoot for the word "oversized". The ponderosa pinecone and ostrich egg are definitely out of scale of what we normally think the size of an egg and a pinecone should be.
This picture turned out kind of wild. I had meant it to be for another purpose, but the out of focus, blurred motion and the weird orange background lent itself to the idea of movement. This is a pic of my 12 year old female Labrador, Judy.
Yeah, right...intimidating. Maybe not so much in this pic (actually, this is kind of anti-intimidating), but you should hear him bark. It amuses me to no end how cute he is when he's carrying around his favorite toy. So ferocious.
The community of fans at Saturday's home football game. A cold, wet, windy, day. And we lost.
This picture is the end result of a chemical reaction producing artificial snow. There was either not enough room in the beaker, or too much snow.
A kind of self portrait of my reflection in a round bottom flask that I coated on the inside with a silver film.
Gromit is contemplating whether or not he is comfortable in the soft rabbit fur. He's a little fuzzy on the issue, as (infortunately) is the macro mode on my digital camera.
Wallace is not happy about being waist deep in the cold snow. The penguin, being his usual phlegmatic, inscrutable self, does not seem to mind.
The day before Thanksgiving Break begins on our campus, and there is only one student to be observed crossing the campus. It's looking pretty deserted.
When I think of the term culture, art usually comes to mind. I'm not sure if this handblown vase is art, but I really wanted to show off some of my work.
I'll get a better scan of this postcard from Michigan Tech, but it is very fitting, especially with the mist in the back.
