About randomthinks

After reading blogs and reading about them (thanks Mike Wendland) and the Detroit Free Press, I decided that I wanted to try this technology out.

After a brief first stint with Blogger and Blogspot, I decided I wanted to do something a bit more flexible and reliable. I found a hosting service that a friend manages and got a chunk of space and a domain name. randomthinks was born.

The idea of blogging really appeals to some part of me that I cannot quite articulate just yet. I have wandered through the landscape and read a lot of blogs, of which many of my favorites are on my Blogroll.

I think the freedom to get thoughts out there for people to read, to participate in the exchange of ideas is exciting. Maybe it is just because I believe sometimes in the real world we are to wrapped up in the minutiae of office talk or polite conversations, that we do not always say what we really feel or that we engage in conversation that isn't substantive. Undertanding that this is part my fault as well, I am going to try to see if I can use this medium to express myself more authentically.

Of course I could just be pissing in the wind. Or overestimating my inner thoughts as being more interesting than they really are. I guess time will tell.

Either way, I get a chance to learn some new technology, explore some design ideas, and educate myself about some concepts that will hopefully become useful as I prepare for my sabbatical in the Spring Semester of 2004. But that is a topic for another entry.

If you've made it this far in reading this post, I thank you for your patient attention.

Keith
