Poker Tournament Disaster

I did not post yesterday as I headed out of town early to Detroit for a poker tournament. I play in two regular games, one with friends and family in the Detroit area where I used to live and one here in Adrian. The Detroit gang gets a wild hair about twice a year and has a tournament style evening: a winner take all game with a single buy in.

Including the snowy mess I drove in and through to get there, it was a disaster. I was the first person eliminated. I simply could not get any cards worth betting, and when I did, someone else got better ones. I was dealt nothing better than three 8's all night. I think I won two or three hands, and split a couple of others before I was pushed out.

At least I got an early start to drive the 100 miles back home. I'll have to call in to find out who won.

bummer doc. sorry it did not work out. at least you are home safe. you should get a portion of the winner's pot for the effort you made to get there. i'm assuming you drove the farthest?!

I did indeed drive farther to get there than anyone else. While they did not donate a portion of the pot, they do understand why I do not offer to host our regularly floating game. :)

It just seems such a shame that you were eliminated so early after such a drive.
