Cordless Blogging, Memphis Impressions
Sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything new. I think this is the longest I have gone without blogging since I started this blog last year.
I am in Memphis TN, posting wirelessly in a Borders Books and Music. I left Texas on Thursday morning and made it to Memphis yesterday morning. I am staying in a hotel about 6 blocks from Beale Street. It is a nice place, but I forgot to ask the key question when making my reservation: "Do you have internet access?" Unfortunately the answer was no. So it took me a while to try to find someplace that did not cost a small fortune (a local cafe wanted $10/hour)
Mom is doing pretty well (I have not posted since Monday). She has two therapists coming to the house (physical and occupational) working with her. She still has some residual weakness in her left arm and continuing numbness. The back problems are gone, thankfully. Hopefully the arm problems will improve with time and therapy.
So... I stuck around for a couple of days, cooking and cleaning, until I started to get claustrophobic and the old friction between me and Dad kicked in. I figured it was time to go.
I was just outside of Arkansas when I stopped Thursday night, and was so tired I hit the bed without unpacking the PowerBook. I was off again yesterday morning early, and made it to Memphis about noon.
I have been taking lots of pics, seeing the sights, eating good food (barbecue!) and listening to even better music ever since. I will post about this in much more detail later, and new photo albums will be coming soon. I have wanted to visit Memphis for quite some time now, and this seemed like a good opportunity, since I was travelling within 15 minutes of the center of downtown on the way from MI to TX and back.
