Driving in the Rain

I started out this morning at 9AM (I was up late watching the Super Bowl and Survivor), and it was an absolutely beautiful day. I had not made it 10 miles past the Indiana border when it started raining. It rained all day. I snapped a shot as I crossed the border into Illinois, but it did not take. Too dark. Too rainy. Windshield wipers. Aaugh.
I am holed up in a Drury Inn (free broadband!) at the very southern tip of Illinois, and I think I must be somewhere near Soutern Illinois U (Carbondale), but I did not bring the map in. I made it about 500 miles today before the dark and the rain and my sore back and my tired eyes made it too difficult to go further.
I need a cold drink, a quick meal, a hot shower, and a bed. And hopefully no rain tomorrow. I'll definitely get an earlier start tomorrow morning.

A lot of the Hampton Inn's have free high-speed access too!
Best of luck man! Where are you heading tomorrow?

Hey, this is fun. Little pictures and everything. I can almost imagine being on the road trip with you. Well, except I don't know you and I wouldn't really want to go to Texas. But other then that, I'm ready to travel!

Hey Doc,
Don't know you, but it's sure fun to read your blog every day. I'm doing a big re-vamping of my own blog and have been quite inspired by your format. I'm thinking about adding a current reads section as well as listing blogs I read. Also, just need a little color. Moveable Type's template page is pretty boring. I'll definitely give you a shout out from California. Oh, and good luck with your mom and with your sabatical.
