LOTR "Return of the King" Crosses Billion Dollar Mark

I was watching "techlive" on Tech TV. The little ticker on the bottom of the screen noted that "The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King" has become only the second movie in history to cross the $1 billion box office sales worldwide. It took them 10 weeks of release to do it.

All three "Rings" movies have grossed almost $2.8 billion.

The only other movie to do this? "Titanic" And it took them 11 weeks to reach the billion mark. It still holds (for now) the record for highest worldwide gross at $1.8 billion.

If "Return of the King" wins the Oscar for Best Picture, look for Aragorn and Frodo to overtake the doomed oceanliner.

They also noted another interesting point: there is going to be a "Simpsons" big screen movie. Details if I can find them later...
