Marathon Driving Day

images/missouriimages/arkansas

images/texas(Click images to enlarge) A long, but great driving day. I was in bed early last night, up real early this morning, and on the road, fueled and fed, by 6:20AM. 13 hours and 830 miles later, I am ensconced in an AmeriSuites, with my PowerBook and a Pizza.

I've traveled a total of 1310 miles since 9AM Monday. Seven states: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas.

What a beautiful day. Clear (very few clouds until dusk), cold, and sunny all day. A perfect driving day. Started before sunrise and ended after dark. I am about 350 miles from my destination, and will be there a full day earlier than I had first estimated.

Books on tape (Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything, and Adams' "Hitchhikers Guide") and XM Radio make the miles fly by.

Thanks to all of you who have emailed and wished me safe travels and sent good wishes for my Mom. I have not figured out how to get Entourage to send out email using someone else's network connection yet (the "we do not relay" message crops up), so you have not gotten a more personal response. I am receiving them though. They are greatly appreciated.

This usually works for me with Entourage.

Select Tools, then Accounts.
Select the account you want to send mail with.
Select Edit
Near the bottom, you'll see Sending Mail
Select the Advanced Settings button.
Place a check mark in the SMTP server requires authentification.

This may or may not work. Wherever you are at may have their server set up so that no one can send anything, in order to prevent people from sending spam associated with their address.

Does this change your "places visited" map at all? I hope you post an updated one after the entire trip is through and you have traversed hither and yon!
