Mom's Gonna Be Alright...
I am back home for a few minutes from the hospital to check on the dog, so I thought I'd drop a couple of lines of update.
Mom made it through surgery all right. The surgeon said that he relieved a lot of the pressure on her spinal cord (he removed a damaged cervical disc) and that is going to help her problems. She came out of surgery able to move arms and legs, which was an obvious concern. She is still groggy from the anaesthesia, and wants to come home. Not gonna happen today. She is not really happy about that. Mom is a lot like me...makes a bad patient. She'll be sleeping off the meds for a couple of hours yet, and I doubt the doc is going to give in on this one.
We're going back to the hospital in a bit. I just wanted to echo my brother Kirk's comment from my last post, and thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers at this time. We certainly appreciate it.

Two days after my mother-in-law had this surgery she was dancing with her doctor in the hall.
Things sound good. Go phone for a pizza and watch some tube for being a good son.

Glad to hear that mom is doing well Keith. Your best bet is to let the docs keep her as long as they think is necessary and make sure she doesn't overdo her activity while recovering. I know that stubborn moms can make some of the most difficult patients. ;-)

Wonderful news! I hope her recovery continues easily and speedily. Take care of yourselves. :)

I'm so glad to hear the surgery came out well. I once heard someone say "No surgery is a minor surgery." But those that are considered to be major, are just that much more stressful.
I hope your mother gets out of the hospital as soon as her health allows it, I'd not want to be stuck there, either.
