On the Road Again...
Posting is going to be a bit erratic over the next couple of weeks. I am heading out of town tomorrow to go down to Texas to visit my parents. Mom's going into the hospital for surgery on Friday, and I want to be there to help take care of her when she gets out, as Dad is not good at that sort of stuff. The surgery is pretty major (cervical vertebra repair) but Mom's prognosis is excellent, and she should be out of the hospital within a day and back to new within 3 weeks. Being on sabbatical I have the ability to be there (something that would be much more difficult if I were teaching this semester), so I am going.
I am also escaping this horrid weather. Although it is quite sunny today, and may actually be above freezing. Mom called yesterday and told me it was 71 where they are in TX.
If all goes well, I am going to take a few extra days on the way home and do a little sightseeing. Memphis is definitely on the list, with other possibilities being Austin, Nashville, or St. Louis.
So, while I am taking my trusty little PowerBook12, I have no idea what internet access is going to be like on the road. M&D have dialup *ACK*, so I'll be getting email and will be able to post when I get time down there.
So, I leave tomorrow for a 1700 mile drive, with a couple of books on CD, my trusty iPod for music, a thermos of coffee, and a road atlas. ETA in TX is sometime Wednesday night.

I don't know what part of Tx you are heading toward, but the weather in North Texas has been swinging between 71 degrees and Spring-ish to 35 degrees and almost frosty. This is probably nothing to someone coming down from Michigan. :) There is no snow, little rain. If you cross through Dallas and would like to stop and meet a fellow blogger, email me!
