I keep telling Mom to drop you a note on this one. Microwave ovens are real burrs under her saddle.

OK, so here's that note. Yup, microwave popcorn's got nothing on the real stuff. Mr. Man and I were SHOCKED to go to the store in search of a refill jar of Orville Redenbacher kernels last week -- four shelves of microwave packets, barely detectable row of REAL stuff!

Just for the record, here's what else I believe:
--microwaves are evil (REGULAR OL' OVENS AND STOVES WORK JUST FINE)
--bras are evil (confirmed by certain breast-cancer studies)
--hair dryers are evil (confirmed by a local study just last week)
--chemicals on your yard are evil
--cell phones are a necessary evil to be used as little as possible (THEY'LL FRY YOUR BRAIN)
--video players in cars are an extreme evil ... LET THE KIDS LOOK OUT THE WINDOW! OR READ! OR LET THEM TALK TO YOU, FOR GOD'S SAKE!

This has been an end-of-workday rant. Thankoo.

Mom, good to hear from you finally. I have read so much about you @ pop's place.

IMO, microwaves have their place...but a small one, and certainly not for popcorn. I have no opinion on bras or hairdryers, as I do not use them. Obviously, I have a different view on chemicals as a chemistry professor...I have no beef with cellphones, as I have no landline anymore. And you are spot on with the in-auto video/dvd. I was driving last year and saw a porno flick in an Escalade.

You are always welcome to rant here, if you'd like. Nice to finally make your acquaintance.
