Monday Olympic Notes

Just finished watching the U.S. take the Silver Medal in the all around in Men's Gymnastics. 1st medal since 1984 and the first medal in a "fully attended" Olympics since 1932. Excellent work. The Japanese took the Gold, and the Romanians the Bronze. The Russians were nowhere to be found.

I am still noticing pretty sparse attendance.

It is amazing and inspiring to watch the way the athletes on the podium react when they hear their national anthem being played. I can see this American swimmer choking back tears, and to see the looks on their faces, I can't help but get a little choked up to think of what they must be feeling. It feels a little voyeurish to see the emotions.

On a separate note...am I the only one who thinks that the swimmers look completely alien these days? Wetsuits, mirrored goggles, swim caps?

I must admit I wholeheartedly approve of the uniforms that the women's beach volleyball players are wearing. Smallest. Team. Uniforms. Ever. ;)
