Fall Days, Golf, Chili, and Cornbread
Today was the last day of Mid-semester Break over here in my little corner of the world. It started off cold and grey and foggy.
My brother left for home this morning after taking me to Toledo to pick up my now dashboard-rattle-free Honda Element. It was a little thing, but it did annoy, so now it is fixed and we are back in business. Plus, the dealership washed and vacuumed it out for me. Always a bonus.
On the way home, I stopped to pick up fixin's for chili and cornbread for dinner tonight. I was supposed to have company, but she bailed on me, much to her loss as I make the best bowl of red this side of the Mississippi. And the special cornbread to boot, with the corn kernels and four cheeses in the batter. Yes, I know, the best cornbread is the simplest, made in a cast iron skillet, but this recipe is good too, in a DIFFERENT way.
The interim time between then and now was filled with golf, on what turned out to be an amazingly nice day.
So, as I blog and wait for the oven timer to tell me the cornbread is done, the house is perfumed with cumin, chili powder, garlic, and onions, and a bowl is waiting to be filled.
Tomorrow is back to work, but tonight is dinner, a walk with the pooches, and some light reading. This has been one of the best break weekends ever. Have I ever mentioned that I love my job?

Comments
The Civic is out of warranty and Honda just gave us a new speedometer because the old one was busted. Add that to the new transmission they put on the Odyssey at 70K because they said that was their mistake!
The new Odyssey was in the showroom. That car even without the voice activated GPS is smarter than alot of people I know.
Glad your rattle is fixed. Say 'Yo!" to your bro for us the next time you see him.
