iMac Mini: Apple's new moviePod?

There is an interesting article by Robert Cringely on the PBS website, Mini Me: The New Mac Mini is All About Movies.

Cringely seems to think that the introduction of the iMac mini is going to lead Apple into selling movies for download over the web (in HD no less) much like they lead the way with iTunes and downloading songs.

I like the idea, and I think it would be awesome to be able to do so. Check out the article. Well worth the read, if you are into video, and especially HD.

Last summer Steve Jobs did an extensive interview with the Wall Street Journal. He said not once but twice that downloading movies was not something he was interested in.

But he seems to be a guy who can turn on a dime.

Interesting - I actually thought that the Mac Mini would make a great media server. I was thinking I could use one as a repository for all my digital music files. My wife and I have an iBook and a PowerBook respectively and it would be nice to have a holding place for our music that we could use for streaming to the home stereo -- something "always on."
