Need Your Help: Coca-Cola Basketball Ad

OK... Coke is running a new ad with a street basketball game and an older guy with a bag of groceries. The guy looks familiar as hell, but I simply cannot place the face. Any hoops fans out there that can help would be appreciated.

I read where someone thought it was Nigel Manual who use to play for UCLA in the 70's.
I thought it looked like gus williams who use to play for the seattle supersonics.

The player is Milwaukee Bucks Coach Terry Porter.

**NOT one the fifty gretest NBA players of all time, James Worthy...

Posted by: scott o at Mar 24, 2005 9:37:01 PM

Sharrej's post is the best guess.

Nigel Miguel played for UCLA from 81 - 85 and was Pac 10 2nd team, defensive player of the year in 85. Now he is an actor that has been in "White Men Can't Jump" and other movies, and has been a basketball consultants on other projects.

check this link for other films he has been in.

Who's Michael Jordon?

Posted by: Geoff at Mar 25, 2005 8:45:32 PM

Looks a little like Nate Archibald - about the right height, anyway. Either Tiny or Ernie DeGregario.

The guy's name is Nigel Miguel. He played at UCLA in the 80s. You don't want to believe it's him because you recognize the guy,but you've never heard of Nigel Miguel. But it's because he probably found more fame for his small roles in movies like White Men Can't Jump (on the 2v2 team they play in the finals) and The Air Up There (the older brother who plays in the final game). It's definately him though

It is the infamous Clyde "The Glide" Drexler.

Actually, according to an official annonymous source, its StreetBall Legends great Wayne "The Pain" Miller. He played at the height of his game from 81' to 86'. Originally from Rockford, Illinois.

Posted by: Jon at Mar 27, 2005 6:08:43 PM

You morons!! It is White Chocalate from Rucker!!

Posted by: Bhavin at Mar 27, 2005 6:09:48 PM

Yeah, I remember seeing "The Pain" play on the street courts in Rockford. Him and "slick" Sammy Smithfield use to have some great battles. The last I heard Miller was working for the coca-cola company in human resources. It's great to see coke pay tribute to a streetball legend.

Posted by: hoss at Mar 27, 2005 10:32:49 PM

It's Jerry West on that basketball commercial. I'd bet my IQ on it.

Posted by: egnorant at Mar 28, 2005 2:48:13 PM

Coke is messing with everyone!! I think he's a school-yard legend, made up by Coke just to get you thinking and talking about it! Who is the "boogatta"? (Note the end of the commercial)
